‘South Philly Italian Kitchen’

is a new culinary concept developed by Joe the Boss, a well-known restaurateur in the South Philly, Center City Philly and South Florida area.

After departing from British Airways (no pun intended), he opened up Pasta Cucina in 1992.  The restaurant was located in the historic Bellevue Hotel in Center City Philadelphia. Pasta Cucina flourished there for a decade before being sold.

After selling Pasta Cucina, Steve Martorano, of the famed Café Martorano’s, heard of Chef Joey’s talent and made Joey an offer he couldn’t refuse.  So, Chef Joey packed up and moved to Florida where he became one of Steve Martorano’s most valued Executive Chefs.  He worked with Steve side by side for 6 years at Café Martorano Restaurant in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.



Learning all he could from Steve Martorano, Joey opened up Mangiamo444, in Northern Liberties, Philadelphia.  Mangiamo444 did very well and was sold in 2019 to a group of investors.

What is Chef Joey’s niche?  Joe’s culinary talents incorporate only the finest, freshest, homemade ingredients and he is known for creating top quality dishes while at the same time maintaining a health conscious dietary menu that is not only fast but affordable.

But Chef Joey’s present culinary concept may be his best yet!  Chef Joey is now bringing his talent to the Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia area where he will be serving up old world homemade Italian cuisine – welcome to the South Philly Italian Kitchen!
